It has been an eventful week for Harry Gormley. On Wednesday evening he was presented with a much deserved award at Craigavon Civic Centre. The award was for his service to Sarsfields Football Club and indeed to our local community.
Harry first participated in the Scór in 1972 and since that time he has worked on Scór committees at county and provincial level. He has served on committees over many years and currently holds the honorary position of Club Vice President. Harry has stood down from the committee and taken a step back from his role promoting Irish Cultural activity within the club. However Harry can be proud in terms of Irish Culture, that he has left Sarsfields in a very good position. Harry is held in high esteem within our club and Gaels from Sarsfields, Armagh and further afield are in no doubt that the award is well deserved.
On Friday evening Harry attended the underage presentation evening and was delighted to celebrate the achievements of our young players as well as being able to congratulate Mags and Catherine McAlinden on their All-Ireland success.
On Saturday evening Harry was back in the hall having had a central organising role in the Twenty Five Year Anniversary Ceílí. Thanks to Harry and the rest of the Sarsfields Ceílí Club members the night was a huge success.
Next up for Harry is to defend his Armagh Scór Quiz title in his pursuit for three in a row.
