Sarsfields v Maghery
Maghery will be going into this match as favourites, but that should suit Sarsfields just fine. Currently Maghery are sitting second in Division One, whilst Sarsfields are sitting just above the relegation zone. Maghery beat Sarsfields in Derrytrasna by two points in May. The Highmoss were missing key players from that team and were unlucky to finish without a goal. In the return fixture Sarsfields finished on top edging a very exciting encounter by a point. Maghery initially had raced into a six point lead which Sarsfields pulled back. Maghery led in the closing stages but a last gasp goal pulled a valuable result out of the bag for the Highmoss.
This season Sarsfields even though they have struggled at times have pulled off good results against the top teams including Crossmaglen. That said Maghery have also beaten the All Ireland Champions this season. Local people always look forward to these derby games between the Lough shore neighbours and no doubt they are eagerly anticipating this senior championship match. To date the Highmoss management haven’t had a full squad to pick from, but in this fixture they may well have the dilemma of picking from their strongest available squad this season.
