The Sarsfields U14 team played Maghery on Sunday in splendid conditions for football. The Highmoss had only thirteen available players and the Féile is played as fifteen a side competition. Being well aware of the problems of rural clubs in fielding teams, Maghery sportingly agreed to play thirteen a side, so thanks to the club for that gesture.
Sarsfields led 2-06 to 2-04 at half time, but in a five minute period at the start of the second half the Hoops conceded four goals to give the team a mountain. It became an impossible task with Highmoss going a man down when Sheelin Breen went off with an injury. However after the early goals Sarsfields tightened up their defewnce and the midfield players began to gain control in the centre. Good movement in the forward line saw Sarsfields eat into the Maghery lead. Unfortunately the Highmoss came up short at the final whistle by three points, but it was a gallant effort.
Best Wishes to Sheelin Breen hope you are back on your feet very soon.
