Over thirty players from the Sarsfields U16 squad travelled to the University of Ulster in Jordanstown last Sunday to sample an hour’s Gaelic Football on the University’s splendid 3G pitch.

The squad’s management had selected two equally matched teams but the Sarsfields ‘tigers’ had two goals to spare after a frantic hour’s football over the Sarsfields ‘lions’ who had clawed their way back into contention but ended up losing by 19 goals to 17.

The management of the U16 squad were delighted with the turnout on the day and were grateful to the Highmoss committee for their help in accommodating the day’s events. The U16 squad from the 2011 season, and new recruits who will be joining the team next year, will continue to train over the winter months and the weekly visit to Stephen Haughian’s gym will take place as usual this Friday night at 6.45pm.

The Sunday road-run is growing steadily in popularity and new runners are welcome to come along.
