Final League Match is a Drab Affair

Sarsfields 0-05 Clann Eireann 1-11
This was a bit of a non-event for Sarsfields who had nothing to play for. Sarsfields rested some players giving the opportunity to other squad members. Believing they had something to play for gave Clann Eireann the impetus to go on and win the game and really little can be read into the Highmoss performance.
The visitors using the breeze quickly hit over a couple of points and by comparison the Highmoss dropped a couple of chances short. The gap widened with a well taken Clann Eireann penalty and had it not been just inside the post Darran McAvoy may well have had it covered. Stefan Green opened the Sarsfields scoring with a very well taken point but Clann Eireann tagged on six points without reply to hold a clear lead. Michael Stevenson kicked a point for Sarsfields, but the visitors hit a couple of injury time points to hold a ten point half time lead.
Sarsfields brought on a few substitutes, but they had little impact. In a poor second half Michael Stevenson hit over a free, Neil McCann punched a shot from Eamon McGeown over the bar and Eamon McGeown kicked a point. That came against two Clann Eireann points. The referee’s full time whistle was a welcome sound for those that had braved the cold to come out for a match.
