Armagh Harps 2-22 Sarsfields 1-03

This was a spirited performance from Sarsfields against a strong Armagh Harps side. Harps went three up but were denied a few goal chances; twice by superb Stephen McStay saves and twice by the crossbar. Good work by Eoin Murray also denied the city men. Stefan Green was very unlucky to see his rasper skim the outside of the post after the ball broke loose in the square. Paul McGeown opened the Highmoss account with a decent long range free and Niall Kerr collected a good pass from Declan Breen, but blasted over a point when the goal chance was on. In end to end football Chris Fairfield did well on two successive attacks to clear the danger. Paul McGeown saw an effort go wide after Stefan Green had gave him a good ball.
Stefan showing some great work picking up ball had a couple of shots go wide but hit over a good point to leave one between the sides after twenty minutes. Harps were to dominate the remaining ten minutes and hit over four points without reply. They might have been further ahead but for a couple of great saves from Stephen McStay and one of the saves you could say was a double save. Leading by five at half time Harps dominated the early stages of the second half and hit a further 1-07 without reply to put the game beyond Sarsfields. The Highmoss men fought on gamely and Paul McGeown scored a well-deserved goal by way of consolation in a well worked move. Aaron McGaughey made a super run on goal only to see his shot on goal go wide. Harps tagged on a further 1-06 but the Highmoss defence used up every last ounce of energy in trying to put pressure on the Harps forward line. The team was well beaten but had given their all against a stronger side.
